Structural Steel Fire Protection: How Thickness Is Set
Buying intumescent coating for a steel frame? How section factor, critical temperature and EN 13381-8 tables decide thickness, and what to send before quoting.
Poland has two routes, and picking the wrong one wastes a quarter. The deciding question is whether a harmonised European standard covers your product.
What Poland asks for
Where a harmonised European standard covers the product, Poland uses CE marking with a Declaration of Performance, the same as the rest of the EU. Where no harmonised standard exists, Poland operates its own national construction marking route instead. Establish which applies before any testing is booked.
| Route one | CE marking, where a harmonised standard exists |
|---|---|
| Route two | The Polish national construction mark, where one does not |
| What you receive | A Declaration of Performance, or the national equivalent |
| Typical fire standard | EN 13501 classification |
| Main port | Gdansk |
Everything downstream depends on it. Testing booked on the wrong route is money gone.
Expected for the national route.
Cargo often moves on into central Europe.
