STS Prepaid Meters and the TID Rollover Explained
Buying STS prepaid meters for an estate or utility? What the TID rollover did, why the base date matters at order stage, and what to settle…
Dar es Salaam does not only serve Tanzania. A lot of what lands there moves inland, so a held container holds up more than one project.
What Tanzania asks for
Tanzania runs a PVoC scheme under the Tanzania Bureau of Standards. Goods are inspected and tested in India before loading, and a Certificate of Conformity is issued. The certificate travels with the shipping documents. Goods arriving without one are inspected at destination, at a cost, and released only after they pass.
| What the scheme is called | PVoC (Pre-Export Verification of Conformity) |
|---|---|
| Who runs it | Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) |
| What you receive | A Certificate of Conformity (CoC) |
| When it is issued | Before the goods are loaded, in India |
| Main port | Dar es Salaam |
Goods moving on to Zambia, Malawi, Rwanda or the DRC pass more checks. Errors compound.
The certificate cannot be issued after the goods have sailed.
Product marking is checked against the certificate. Rubbed-off marking causes queries.
