Supplying construction materials to Tanzania

Dar es Salaam does not only serve Tanzania. A lot of what lands there moves inland, so a held container holds up more than one project.

What Tanzania asks for

Tanzania runs a PVoC scheme under the Tanzania Bureau of Standards. Goods are inspected and tested in India before loading, and a Certificate of Conformity is issued. The certificate travels with the shipping documents. Goods arriving without one are inspected at destination, at a cost, and released only after they pass.

Four steps: order placed, testing before loading, certificate issued, goods clear customs
How a pre-shipment Certificate of Conformity is earned. It is issued before the container leaves India.

What this means for your order

Inland cargo needs cleaner paperwork

Goods moving on to Zambia, Malawi, Rwanda or the DRC pass more checks. Errors compound.

Test before you load

The certificate cannot be issued after the goods have sailed.

Keep marking legible

Product marking is checked against the certificate. Rubbed-off marking causes queries.
