UKCA vs CE Marking for Construction Products in 2026
CE marking is now accepted in Britain indefinitely. What SI 2025/1172 changed, why UKCA is optional, and what evidence a buyer should ask for instead.
Ireland reads both European and British paperwork, which helps, but it holds the fire evidence to a high standard.
What Ireland asks for
Products covered by a harmonised European standard carry CE marking and a Declaration of Performance. Irish building regulations then set the performance a building must meet, and NSAI is the national standards body. Fire evidence in particular is expected to be traceable to a named test and a named lab.
| What applies | CE marking under the European construction products rules |
|---|---|
| What you receive | A Declaration of Performance (DoP) |
| National standards body | NSAI |
| Typical fire standard | EN 13501 classification |
| Main ports | Dublin, Cork |
Name the test, the lab and the report number. Vague evidence gets rejected.
One of the easier markets to document from India.
A test on one wall type does not automatically cover another.
