Supplying construction products to Germany

German buyers read the paperwork properly. That is good news for a supplier who has it, and a hard stop for one who does not.

What Germany asks for

A construction product covered by a harmonised European standard carries CE marking and comes with a Declaration of Performance, which states the exact classes the product achieved. Where no harmonised standard covers a product, Germany may also require a national approval. Send the DoP and the test report number, not a photo of a CE logo.

Four steps: harmonised standard, notified body test, CE mark and Declaration of Performance, shipped
How a CE marked construction product is documented, and why the Declaration of Performance is the document to ask for.

What this means for your order

The DoP is the document that matters

It names the classes. A certificate without stated performance answers nothing.

German-language documents help

Not always required, but it moves a technical file faster.

Expect the test report to be read

Send the report number and be ready for questions about the tested build-up.
